.:I.A.S.:. Eilidh's First Mission

   

I've been working on this for days!!! I'm so tired! And now I'm going to sleep, answering stuff tomorrow...

                                                                                                        THE CASE

Name: Widow’s Woes
LOCATION: Torun, Poland

A case has come to us from the concerned sister of Filip Baczewski in Torun, Poland. His wife died last year which was a blow to the 40 year old man and he did not take it well at all. After quitting his job, he spent weeks in isolation until his sister came back to visit.

He did not answer the door right away but eventually after his sister begged him to, she was allowed inside. All seemed well and proper in the home until she went into the kitchen and found a mannequin dressed in the clothing her sister-in-law used to wear with a wig also like her hair. When she asked about it, the brother shrugged it off as “means to make me feel less alone.”

Disturbed, his sister Anatola decided to stay in a hotel.

Halfway to the hotel she forgot that she’d left her coat and so immediately set back.

Upon going back Anatola realized the door was left unlocked. Opening the door she was about to call out her brother’s name when she saw the discarded clothes of the mannequin on the floor.

Now feeling incredibly creeped out and suspecting her brother of gaining a new fetish, she crept around hoping to just grab her coat and go back when she saw the supposed mannequin moving about on its own on the second floor.

It did not seem like the mannequin noticed her and she could not tell what this moving doll was doing but she refused to stay and find out, running out of the house as fast as she could.

As she insists this is no hallucination, please go investigate this case with caution.

 

Scenes

First Scene  Intimidating Interrogating the ‘Witnesses’

    1.       Eilidh arrives to the city of Torun and the first thing that she does is to interrogate the sister of the widower, Antola. She presents herself as an officer from her brother’s and sister’s-in-law Insurance Company, investigating about a possible fake of Mrs. Baczewski’s death to get the money of the Insurance.

 Since she doesn’t speak Polish she uses the pocket dictionary given her by Secundus, but because of her quite strong Scottish accent, the communication is not so easy.

In the end she concludes that the sister is not lying and that she really believes in what she saw.

    2.       She then visits the widower, Filip Baczewski at his place, always with the same excuse, so she can also see the mannequin. In her time there she does not observe any paranormal activity.

 

Second Scene  Observing the ‘Crime Scene’

Not having any useful information from the witnesses Eilidh decides to see herself if any strange activity is taking place in the house. That evening she takes a sit on a tree on the other side of the road so to see inside the house. While observing she reads about Acrotomophilia, the fetish for amputated parts of bodies, which can also manifest with ‘love interest’ for mannequins. She suspects that the grieving widower is using some sort of ‘power’ to animate the mannequin and enjoy it’s company.

While sitting there, she observes something strange through the window. She sees the mannequin stripping and walking around the room.

 

Third Scene  Time for Some Proofs

Not sure of what she just saw, Eilidh approaches the house to try to get in and see from a short distance what is really happening. She walks around the house to get to the back entrance and she stumps is something that makes her fall. As she inspects the object she discovers it to be a hose pipe that gets inside the house through a window. As she pulls it she discovers that gas is coming out of it.

 

Conclusion  It’s always about money

Being Eilidh quite an expert on gases and toxins, she is able to recognize the gas as Ethylene, a hallucinogen inducting gas.

Getting to the source of the pipe brings Eilidh to the house of one of Mr. Baczewski’s neighbours.

 As she confronts him about the pipe he pretends to not know what Ethylene even is but when Eilidh expresses the intention to smoke a cigarette while standing in proximity to a tank that supposedly contains the Ethylene he immediately stops her as it is highly inflammable. The neighbour, Mr. Dudziak, in the end admits that he has been introducing small quantities of Ethylene in Mr. Baczewski’s house to drive him crazy as he wanted to buy his house, but the men refused as he had shared that house with his late wife.

In conclusion: every person that has been in the house has experienced hallucinations because of the drug. This were short but very realistic hallucinations, so it was difficult to distinguish them from reality. Mr. Dudziak has been arrested by the local authorities for ‘Attempted Homicide’.

Mr. Baczewski’s activities with the mannequin were though, not drug induced, as so the man will be send to therapy for Acrotomophilia and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

 

                                                            Easter Eggs  Because I am crazy

Scene 1.1

Eilidh is trying to ask Miss Antola if she is sure of what she saw. The correct sentence in Polish is:

“Jest Pani pewna?”

While what Eilidh says is:

“Jest Pani z-drewna?”

That means: Are you made of wood?

(Haha, it’s not even funny but I just wanted to do something about the language issue…)

 

Scene 2.0

On the branch near Eilidh you can see a blue box. It is a box of “Pierniki” a special gingerbread covered in chocolate biscuits that Torun is famous for.

(My great grandmother used to keep a lot of them in her house and she usually gave me some boxes after they were out of date for like a year. Surprisingly they tasted much better that fresh ones)
